There are existing short term loading zones available in Mona Road and Glenmore Road. Unrestricted parking

options will remain on New Beach Road, Oswald Street, Reddy Street and Mahoney Lane. There are also 2P restrictions in most nearby side streets, with Woollahra Council Residential Parking Schemes in place.

Engagement

Roads and Maritime Services engaged with the community and local businesses in May and June about the implementation of new and extended clearways on New South Head Road between Rushcutters Bay and Double Bay. We asked for feedback and suggestions on alternative business parking and loading.

During the engagement period we received support for the new and extended clearways from members of the community. We also received enquiries around the need and effectiveness of clearways, and suggestions for alternative business parking locations. Concerns were raised about the impact of clearways on local businesses and on how unloading and loading of deliveries would be made for businesses.

Based on the suggestions we received from directly impacted businesses and residents on New South Head Road, we asked for further feedback in August and September on additional short term parking and loading options in Edgecliff.

We have summarised the feedback received and have provided a response to the key matters raised in an engagement report. For more information please see the October 2018 Engagement Report.

Background

The NSW Government announced the Sydney Clearways Strategy in December 2013 as one of its key initiatives to reduce congestion on Sydney’s major roads. The strategy identifies more than 1,000 km of state roads on key corridors across Sydney (including other roads in Sydney’s east), which may benefit from the introduction of new and extended clearways to help ease congestion.

What happens next?

The new clearway signs and posts will be installed between Saturday 3 and Sunday 11 November 2018, weather permitting. Our working hours will be between 8pm and 5am from Monday to Sunday.

If you have any questions about the installation works, please contact our delivery partner, Ventia Boral Amey Joint Venture (VBAJV) on 1800 677 700.

What does this mean for me?

Clearways help improve journey times by making an additional lane available to traffic during clearway hours, allowing motorists to get to their destination sooner.

We understand that the new clearway hours will change parking conditions in front of properties, which may cause inconvenience for residents, businesses and visitors.

Following the installation of the new clearways, residents, tradespeople, delivery trucks, customers and visitors are encouraged to park within properties during clearway hours, wherever possible. If parking is not available on your property you will need to park in a local side street.

This is similar to all other state roads where clearways and ‘No Stopping’ restrictions are in place.
