Cambridge Avenue, Glenfield upgrade

The NSW Government has started early planning for a future upgrade and extension of Cambridge Avenue, Glenfield. This upgrade will improve access to the Moorebank Intermodal Terminal and address the long term population and employment growth in the Liverpool Moorebank sub region.

Project background

Cambridge Avenue is an important future transport corridor connecting Moorebank Avenue, the Moorebank Intermodal Terminal, new and future communities at Glenfield with Campbelltown Road and the M31 Hume Highway.

Western Sydney is Australia’s third largest economy and the population is expected to grow from two million to three million people over the next 20 years. The NSW Government is planning for this growth by planning for transport corridors to serve future residential and employment lands.

Benefits of planning now

  • Preserve a future road corridor that balances the needs of road freight, public transport, general traffic along with cyclists and pedestrians
  • Deliver certainty for existing and future developments regarding future road access
  • Provide for a reliable road network to support economic and residential growth in western Sydney.

What happens next?

Roads and Maritime is developing an alignment for the Cambridge Avenue extension between Glenfield Road and Campbelltown Road as part of the wider plans for Glenfield precinct.
