Narellan Road upgrade - open to traffic
The Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight announced the opening of the $152 million Narellan Road upgrade between Camden Valley Way, Narellan and Blaxland Road, Campbelltown.
The Australian and NSW governments funded the upgrade of Narellan Road to reduce congestion and improve safety and travel times.
Road users are befitting from reduced congestion due to the upgrade between the M31 Hume Motorway and Camden Valley Way, and from the TAFE/Western Sydney University access road to Blaxland Road, Campbelltown.
Narellan Road is a key road transport corridor servicing south western Sydney. Traffic is predicted to grow in this area due to residential and commercial development in western Sydney.
About the Narellan Road upgrade
The Narellan Road upgrade, about 6.8km, from Camden Valley Way, Narellan to Blaxland Road, Campbelltown.
Roads and Maritime Services delivered this major project in two stages:
- Stage 1: 1.6km between the M31 Hume Motorway, and the TAFE/Western Sydney University access road, Campbelltown. This stage of the project has been completed in early 2016.
- Stage 2: 5.2km from the M31 Hume Motorway to Camden Valley Way and from the TAFE/Western Sydney University access road to Blaxland Road, Campbelltown was officially opened to traffic in April 2018.
