Glenfield Road upgrade, Glenfield

Roads and Maritime Services has completed this $4.8 million project between Campbelltown Road and Brampton Avenue as part of the NSW Government's $246 million Pinch Point Program, which aims to reduce delays, manage congestion and improve travel times on Sydney's main roads, particularly during week day peak periods.

In September 2014, Roads and Maritime Services consulted with the community, stakeholders and local businesses about the proposal to widen Glenfield Road.

Roads and Maritime has assessed and considered the feedback and has decided to proceed with the project. View or download the Community Consultation Report.

Updates and announcements

Construction on the Glenfield Road upgrade, Glenfield was carried out from early 2015 until late July 2016.

Roads and Maritime Services has delivered this project to provide:

  • Improved traffic flow on Glenfield Road as a result of providing two lanes each direction between Campbelltown Road and Brampton Avenue. This has removed the unnecessary bottleneck near Brampton Avenue
  • Improved traffic flow through the intersection as a result of extra turn lanes from Glenfield Road onto Campbelltown Road
  • Reduced congestion on Campbelltown Road by lengthening the right turn bay into Glenfield Road and allowing westbound traffic to move through the intersection faster
  • Improved access for pedestrians and cyclists by constructing a shared bicycle and pedestrian path on both sides of Glenfield Road
  • Improved safety for pedestrians as a result of new signalised pedestrian crossings.

During August the project team will complete the final stages of work including the removal of the project site office and building the concrete footpath and median.
