Community feedback has been integral to the development of the Road Network Strategy for the North West Priority Land Release Area.
North West Growth Centre Road Network Strategy
During consultation about the proposed overpass in 2013 and 2014, the community highlighted their concerns about the current traffic congestion in Riverstone and heavy vehicles travelling through the town centre. Roads and Maritime also received feedback about the location of an overpass on community amenity, local businesses, schools and property.
In response to the community’s comments, Roads and Maritime expanded the scope of the project and developed the North West Growth Centre Road Network Strategy to address traffic congestion and heavy vehicle movements in North West Priority Land Release Area and Riverstone.
The strategy was released in November 2014 for public comment and the community feedback has been summarised and responded to in the Road Network Strategy for the North West Growth Centre Community Consultation Report. A copy of the report is available on the project documents page. We hosted four community information sessions in November 2014 where project staff were available to answer questions and receive feedback.
The Road Network Strategy was confirmed by the NSW Government in July 2015.

Westminster Street traffic lights
The Westminster Street traffic lights project is part of the short-term work for the North West Growth Centre Road Network Strategy.
In August 2015 the community was consulted on a proposal to provide traffic lights at the intersection of Westminster Street and Railway Terrace, Schofields. A report summarising issues raised during consultation and our responses is available. View or download the Consultation Report. Comments on this proposal closed on Friday 24 August 2015.
Roads and Maritime has carefully considered submissions received from the community and has decided to build the Westminster Street traffic lights.
Construction started April 2016 and is expected to be completed by late 2016, weather permitting.
Denmark Link Road
As part of the short-term work proposed for the North West Growth Centre Road Network Strategy we are planning to build a link road from the intersection of Garfield Road West and Denmark Road, Riverstone to the Westminster Street bridge, Schofields.
A number of options were developed and an assessment was carried out with key stakeholders to select a preferred option. An Options Report has been prepared detailing the process carried out in the selection of the preferred option. Comments on this proposal opened on Thursday 19 November and closed on Friday 18 December 2015.
A report summarising issues raised during consultation and our responses is being prepared.
