Project background

Roads and Maritime Services started major construction work on the Richmond Road upgrade from Townson Road to 900 metres north of Garfield Road West on Monday 28 July 2014. The upgraded road will allow for additional traffic as a result of housing and employment opportunities in the North West Priority Land Release Area.

Northbound lanes were opened to traffic in November 2015 between Townson Road and Elara Boulevarde. Construction is now focused on southbound lanes between South Street and North of Garfield Road West.

The NSW Government has provided $56 million and $40 million from the Housing Acceleration Fund for Stage 2.

Roads and Maritime awarded the contract to upgrade the 2.9 kilometre section of Richmond Road to Burton Contractors in April 2014.

Roads and Maritime has established a site compound at the corner of Richmond Road and South Street, Marsden Park (previously known as Jack’s Nursery).

A community update featuring the road design is available to read or download from the project documents page.
