Schofields Road upgrade and extension

Schofields Road is being upgraded to become a major east-west connection between Windsor Road and Richmond Road. Once this $340 million upgrade and extension is complete it will link the Rouse Hill and Marsden Park town centres and help to better meet the future transport needs of the North West Priority Land Release Area.

Updates and announcements

Night work on Railway Terrace and Schofields Road, Schofields from Wednesday 2 November

Roads and Maritime Services is continuing to deliver this important project. As part of this project we will be connecting the existing water main pipes to newly constructed pipes on Railway Terrace from Schofields Road to Pelican Road and on Schofields Road from Railway Terrace to Tallawong Road, Schofields.

To minimise disruption to the water supply, night works will be carried out over fifteen night shifts between Wednesday 2 November and Thursday 22 December, weather permitting. Our works will be from 6pm and 6am.

For more information, please download the project notification (PDF 206Kb).

Further updates are included in the October 2016 community update (PDF 3.68Mb).

Background

When the Schofields Road upgrade and extension to Richmond Road is complete it will form a tree lined transit boulevard linking the Rouse Hill and Marsden Park town centres and helping to meet the future transport needs of the North West Priority Land Release Area. Transit boulevards connect pedestrians, cyclists, public transport and vehicles with the surrounding urban land use and are tree lined to set them apart from other roads.

Schofields Road is currently a two-lane, rural road linking Windsor Road at Rouse Hill to Railway Terrace at Schofields. It forms a T-junction with Railway Terrace at its western end.

When the upgrade is completed, Schofields Road would cross the Blacktown-Richmond rail line via an underpass and continue via South Street to link up to Richmond Road at Marsden Park.

Schofields Road is part of an enormous program of NSW Government roadwork that is being planned and delivered in the North West Priority Land Release Area to support new residential and industrial centres in the area, which will see more than 70,000 new homes built in the next 20 years.

Schofields Road is being upgraded in three stages:

  • Stage 1 is between Windsor Road and Tallawong Road and was completed in June 2014
  • Stage 2 is between Tallawong Road and Veron Road and is being built
  • Stage 3 is between Veron Road and Richmond Road and is being built.
