Stage 3 - Veron Road to Richmond Road

Stage 3 of the Schofields Road upgrade is between Veron Road and Richmond Road. It includes extending Schofields Road from Veron Road, across Eastern Creek, to Carnarvon Road and widening the South Street alignment.

Updates and announcements

Early site establishment work started in February 2016 with the installation of site sheds, fencing and temporary relocation of power lines and poles to the southern side of new property boundaries. Work at the South Street and Carnarvon Road intersection started in March 2016.

Project background

The NSW Government has provided $140 million to build the third and final section of the Schofields Road upgrade.

Roads and Maritime has contracted BMD Contractors to upgrade this 2.5km extension of Schofields Road. Site establishment work started in February 2016 and is expected to be completed by mid-2018, weather permitting.

  • Providing a four-lane, divided road with a wide central median that would allow widening to six lanes if required in the future
  • Extending Schofields Road from Veron Road across Eastern Creek to Carnarvon Road
  • Extending of Schofields Road from Carnarvon Road to Richmond Road using the existing South Street alignment

  • Constructing off-road, shared paths for cyclists and pedestrians on both sides of the road
  • Installing signalised crossings for pedestrians and cyclists at all intersections
  • Constructing indented bus bays and bus priority measures at intersections
  • Improving flood immunity.

What happens next?

Construction is expected to be completed by mid-2018, weather permitting.
