Wentworth Point Urban Activation Precinct
Wentworth Point was announced as one of the first Urban Activation Precincts (UAP) in March 2013.
A Plan for Growing Sydney identifies Wentworth Point as a priority precinct where the NSW government will deliver 2,300 homes, local jobs and social infrastructure.
The UAP program proposes developing 18.6 hectares of surplus land owned by Roads and Maritime Services at Wentworth Point, next to Homebush. The land currently leased for light industrialised use is expected to be developed to provide increased supply of housing in Sydney and new maritime facilities in the Homebush Bay area.
The proposed precinct will provide high quality housing, some retail, a mix of education and maritime uses that may include a marina, dry boat storage with launching facilities and over-water rowing club and a foreshore park.
Roads and Maritime has engaged UrbanGrowth NSW as the development manager for Wentworth Point.
What is the next step?
Roads and Maritime expects to issue an Expression of Interest for the sale of the surplus land in the third quarter of 2015.
