Mount Victoria village

Roads and Maritime Services is carrying out work on safety upgrades and road improvements on the Great Western Highway through Mount Victoria village as part of the Australian and NSW governments joint undertaking of a $250 million upgrade package on the highway between Katoomba and Lithgow to improve traffic flow, safety and travel conditions.

Key features of the project

  • Improvements along 1.6 kilometres of the existing highway, including changes and upgrades to intersections to make them safer
  • Widened road shoulders
  • Concrete footpaths for pedestrian access through the village.

Roads and Maritime Services appointed Ward Civil and Environmental Engineering Pty Ltd to construct the highway safety improvements through Mount Victoria village in three sections.

Work began in December 2015 and will be completed in 2017, weather permitting.
