Woolgoolga to Ballina
Roads and Maritime advises that the project Submissions/Preferred Infrastructure Report is now on display by the NSW Department of Planning and Infrastructure until Friday, 13 December 2013.
Any comments on the report can be made to the Department of Planning and Infrastructure via the Department’s website.
The report has been prepared to respond to all submissions received during and after the display of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). The report includes a summary of the submissions and responses to the issues raised by the community, government agencies and local councils.
Various areas of the concept design were also reviewed due to the submissions and feedback received by the community, government agencies and local councils. As a result, a number of project design refinements are proposed to reduce impacts on sensitive ecological areas and improve access and connectivity for local communities.
The Submissions/Preferred Infrastructure Report and a full list of display locations can now be found on the Department of Planning and Infrastructure website.

The Woolgoolga to Ballina project is comprised of the following four previous Pacific Highway planning projects:
- Woolgoolga to Wells Crossing.
- Wells Crossing to Iluka Road.
- Iluka Road to Woodburn.
- Woodburn to Ballina.
For more information on each of these projects go to the project history page.
The Woolgoolga to Ballina project would upgrade about 155 kilometres of highway. The project starts approximately six kilometres north of Woolgoolga (north of Coffs Harbour) and ends approximately six kilometres south of Ballina.
The upgrade does not include the Glenugie and Devils Pulpit sections of highway that are soon to start or under construction.
Timing for construction of the Woolgoolga to Ballina upgrade is dependent on funding negotiations between the Australian and NSW governments
