Kings Highway road safety review
The NSW Centre for Road Safety and Roads and Maritime Services have undertaken a road safety review of the Kings Highway between the Princes Highway roundabout at Batemans Bay and the eastern most part of the ACT border just south of Bungendore.
After consultation with the community the review was finalised and released in May 2013. The review is available on the project documents page.
The NSW government has provided $4 million for this financial year to start implementation of the road safety upgrades recommended by the review.
Roads and Maritime is working on a program of works for this financial year and will provide details of the proposed work in the coming months.
In 2012 community members and stakeholders were invited to submit their feedback on the Kings Highway Road Safety Review through an online issues mapping tool, in community workshops and by email and post.
The NSW Centre for Road Safety and RMS sought community feedback on:
- Locations on the Kings Highway where you think road safety is a problem.
- Locations of near miss or unreported accidents.
- General road safety concerns on the Kings Highway.
- The proposed treatments for the Kings Highway near Braidwood.
As part of the consultation process two community workshops were held in Bungendore (2 May 2012) and Batemans Bay (4 May 2012). At the workshops the project team presented on the:
- Background and scope of the Kings Highway Review.
- Crash history and statistics.
A report summarising the outcomes of the consultation is available from the project documents page.
