Peats Ferry Bridge night maintenance work
Roads and Maritime Services has completed vital maintenance work on the two-lane Peats Ferry Bridge over the Hawkesbury River at Brooklyn. The project included resurfacing, application of a waterproofing membrane and the replacement of 31 bridge expansion joints. The final shift was completed Sunday 22 September 2013 marking the end of nine months work.
Roads and Maritime would like to thank the local community including businesses, emergency services and tourist operators for their patience.
During the work, teams worked mainly at night and sometimes with 24 hour bridge closures and lengthy detours in place to complete activities. Community engagement meant Roads and Maritime was able to coordinate bridge closures allowing for any emergency services teams, local club transport buses and the local on-call doctor to cross the bridge when required.
