Mobile pink slip trial
The Mobile Pink Slip trial has been extended for a further seven months until the end of June 2019.
Roads and Maritime Services conducted a six month trial for mobile pink slip inspections in selected areas across NSW and have extended the trial for another seven months to help determine whether a mobile pink slip service would improve customer flexibility and convenience as well as practicality for safety inspectors.
If successful, the trial could lead to the service being available across the state, providing convenient and flexible options for obtaining an e-safety check (pink slip) for your vehicle.
The trial is running across all of metropolitan Sydney and in Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama, Central Coast, Cessnock, Newcastle and Port Stephens.
The mobile trial applies to cars, motorcycles, trailers and caravans. As usual, the examiner will send the inspection result to Roads and Maritime electronically. Roads and Maritime maintain inspection and certification programs to ensure all vehicles meet minimum safety requirements.
The fee for the pink slip will remain the same, but call out fees may apply.
Would you like to participate in the trial?
- Check you’re in one of the nominated areas
- Make sure your chosen site is appropriate for safely checking your vehicle
- Book with a provider who has been approved for this trial
- Give your feedback on the service after it has been completed
To avoid a delay in your inspection and registration renewal, please book your mobile pink slip in advance.
We have safety inspection and certification programs to make sure that all vehicles meet minimum safety requirements and the safety is the top priority of this trial. Your chosen site will need to be level, wide, out of traffic and away from things like childcare centres and pedestrian crossings. Your authorised trial provider will talk you through the safety requirements when you book.
Give us your feedback
Roads and Maritime will be assessing the trial based on the effectiveness of the inspections and feedback from customers. We won’t know whether to roll it out state-wide, or how it could be improved, if we don’t hear from you.
Have you had a mobile pink slip inspection? Give us your feedback (we won’t need any of your personal details, just your inspection report (pink slip) number and your feedback).
