WHS risk management
Roads and Maritime focus is to eliminate risks first.
Risk management is a systematic process that ensures WHS risks are identified, assessed, controlled and reviewed. WHS risk management:
- Raises awareness of existing hazards, reasonably foreseeable risks and critical controls at an agency and divisional level
- Ensures a systematic and consistent approach to monitoring and managing risk
Establishes a structure for the reporting of safety information.
Roads and Maritime provides guidance on establishing arrangements for WHS consultation with workers and resolving issues. These arrangements enable:
- Effective consultation with workers about WHS matters
- Worker participation in WHS activities
Appropriate representation of workers’ perspectives in decision making about WHS matters.
