The penalty notice offences below are contained in the Road Transport (General) Regulation 2005. They relate to offences under both the Road Transport Act 2013 and the Road Transport (Mass, Loading and Access) Regulation 2005.
> Mass, Dimension and Load Restraint offences for heavy vehicles over 4.5 tonnes (applies to drivers, operators, registered owners/operators):

> Responsible person failing to produce the required records $762.

> Restricted access vehicle offences (eg off route, wrong time and/or insufficient pilot or escort vehicle):
- Class 1 vehicle (low loaders, special purpose vehicles (eg cranes) and agricultural machinery) – breach condition of notice or permit $1191.
- Class 2 vehicle (B-doubles, road trains, car carriers, livestock carriers) – breach condition of notice or permit $1191.
- Class 3 vehicle (other restricted access vehicles that not Class 1 or 2) – breach condition of notice or permit $1191.
Over-dimension offences on non-approved roads
From 1 August 2013, if a heavy vehicle travels on a NSW road, tunnel or bridge which has a dimension restriction and the vehicle is over-dimension for that road, RMS may suspend registration for up to three months and fines apply to the driver. If, as a result of the over-dimension offence the heavy vehicle has caused an accident, danger or obstruction to traffic, an effect to public amenity or any damage to road infrastructure, registration will be suspended. Maximum fine of $2,200 applies.
