Environment Protection Licences

Roads and Maritime or its contractors are required, under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act (1997), to hold Environment Protection Licences (EPLs) for activities listed under Schedule 1 of the Act.

Environment Protection Licences (EPLs) are issued by the NSW Environment Protection Authority to control the impacts of pollution in NSW.

The holder of each EPL must:

  • Comply with all conditions of the EPL
  • Develop, annually update and publicly display a Pollution Incident Response Management Plan (PIRMP)
  • Publicly display any monitoring data, where this is required by the EPL.

Environment Protection Licences currently issued to Roads and Maritime

The following table lists those Roads and Maritime premises for which the NSW Environment Protection Authority has issued an Environment Protection Licence (EPL).

Many of the EPLs have an associated Pollution Incident Response Management Plan (PIRMP), and some require the publication of monitoring data.
