Traffic changes at Emerald Beach as upgrade progresses

The Member for Coffs Harbour, Andrew Fraser, and the Federal Member for Cowper Luke Hartsuyker today announced the next milestone in moves to upgrade the Pacific Highway at Emerald Beach.

Mr Fraser and Mr Hartsuyker said this was further evidence of the commitment of the two Coalition Governments working together to complete the full upgrade.

“I’m delighted we are ready for traffic will be moved onto the newly completed northbound lanes next week,” Mr Fraser said.

“Motorists travelling along the Pacific Highway from Fiddaman Road at Emerald Beach and Graham Drive at Sandy Beach will be moved onto about two kilometres of the new northbound lanes from Sunday 13 October for a few months.

“The traffic change will start at 6pm and allow work to continue to build the new southbound lanes of the highway as well as the southern Graham Drive bridge,” he said.
“At the same time, the southern Graham Drive intersection will be temporarily closed from 6pm to 2am with a detour in place via the northern end of Graham Drive and the Pacific Highway,” Mr Hartsuyker said.

“Traffic management and electronic signs will be in place to advise motorists of changed conditions.

“The jointly funded $850 million Sapphire to Woolgoolga upgrade will provide a four-lane highway with a bypass west of Woolgoolga to reduce travel time for motorists,” Mr Hartsuyker said.

The 25 kilometre Sapphire to Woolgoolga Pacific Highway upgrade starts near Sapphire, immediately north of Coffs Harbour, to Arrawarra, north of Woolgoolga.
