Newell Highway upgrades

Member for the Dubbo electorate, Troy Grant wants to remind residents that work to build a new intersection for access to the new Parkes Hospital will start on Wednesday 2 April on the Newell Highway.

“Roads and Maritime Services is providing $500,000 to upgrade the road surface near the intersection to improve safety”, Mr Grant said.

The work is the first stage of the Parkes Southern Ring Road from the Newell Highway to Back Yamma Road, south of Parkes.

The new intersection will be built with protected right turn and left turn bays with acceleration and deceleration lanes for safer merging.

“All work will be carried out by Parkes Shire Council with preliminary work being carried out from 2 April until the Easter long weekend.” Mr Grant said.

Stage one to build the new intersection and carry out road safety improvements on the Newell Highway will take place from 28 April until June.

Stage two to build the link to Back Yamma Road is planned to start in June and be completed by September.

The project is part of Roads and Maritime’s commitment to deliver safe, efficient and high quality services and infrastructure to the community and businesses of NSW.

Work will be carried out from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 5pm on Saturdays, weather permitting. Traffic controllers and signs will be in place to safely manage traffic.

Mr Grant said delays are expects so please plan your journey and allow extra travel time.”

I thank everyone for their patience and assistance while this work is carried out, getting this infrastructure right will help service and make safe the thoroughfare for the major Hospital works not far away.
