Changed traffic conditions at temporary intersection of Princes Highway and Fern Street
26 September 2014
Member for Kiama Gareth Ward today advised local motorists that changed traffic conditions will be in place on Sunday night at the temporary intersection of the Princes Highway and Fern Street at Gerringong for continuing upgrade work.
Mr Ward said that work to improve the intersection involves widening the road at the north east corner of the intersection, improving drainage and moving the left turn lane further east to provide safer access to Gerringong.
“This stage of work aims to provide more separation of the left turn lane from the southbound and northbound lanes,” he said.
“Roads and Maritime Services will install additional bollards between the northbound lane and right turn lane from Fern Street on to the highway to provide further separation and improve safety for motorists.
“To minimise the impact on motorists, the work will be carried out at night, this Sunday 28th September, weather permitting.
“Motorists are advised there will be no entry or exit into Fern Street at the highway and to access Gerringong via Belinda Street.
“Traffic control, a reduced speed limit of 40km/h and road signs will be in place to help guide motorists.
“Motorists are advised to plan their journey and allow additional travel time,” Mr Ward said.
