Changed traffic conditions for John Foord Bridge closure
4 November 2014
Member for Albury, Greg Aplin advises road users that closures of the John Foord bridge at Corowa will be implemented this week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for final work to level the new footway.
Mr Aplin said the NSW and Victorian governments have jointly funded the $650,000 essential maintenance to improve the surface of the footpath across the bridge to improve the slip resistance.
“Roads and Maritime will close the bridge on Wednesday from 7am to 5pm, on Thursday from 7am to 5pm, and on Friday from 7am to 1pm.
“The closures are required for the safety of workers and bridge users,” Mr Aplin said.
“The old timber footpath will be replaced with a new reinforced plastic panel surface.
“Roads and Maritime will notify the community ahead of an expected half day closure of the bridge next month for the bridge deck to be sealed.”
During closures, all traffic will be detoured via Federation Bridge about 10 minutes away.
Motorists should allow extra travel time and follow all signs.
Up to date information about the work and any impacts to motorists will be displayed on electronic message signs along the road.
Roads and Maritime thanks the community for their patience during upgrade of the bridge.
