Changed traffic conditions next week on Five Islands Road and Princes Motorway
4 December 2015
Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra and South Coast, and Member for Kiama Gareth Ward has today advised local motorists across the region of changed traffic conditions on Five Islands Road and the M1 Princes Motorway next week for essential maintenance work to be carried out.
Mr Ward said that the work involves laying asphalt on the southbound Five Islands Road on ramp to the M1 Princes Motorway to provide a safer road surface for motorists.
“The southbound on ramp will be closed on Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 9th December between 8pm and 5am, weather permitting,” he said.
“Motorists should enter the Princes Motorway via Northcliffe Drive and minor delays are expected.
“The M1 off-ramp to Northcliffe Drive will then be closed on Thursday 10 December between 8pm and 5am, weather permitting, also for asphalt laying.
“Motorists should exit the M1 Princes Motorway via Five Islands Road or Kanahooka Road.
“Road users should plan their trip, allow extra travel time and follow the direction of traffic control and all signs including a reduced 40 km/h speed limit.
“Electronic message signs on the M1 Princes Motorway will display any changes to work dates and times.
“I certainly thank local motorists across our region for their patience whilst this important work is being carried out,” Mr Ward concluded.
