Safety improvement work completed on Chifley Road near Lithgow
10 December 2015
Member for Bathurst Paul Toole today announced the completion of a $1.25 million project to extend an overtaking lane on Chifley Road, about 5.9 kilometres east of Lithgow.
“This important upgrade was consistent with the Bells Line of Road Long Term Strategic Corridor Plan and provides important safety improvements for local and passing motorists,” Mr Toole said.
“The NSW Government’s investment has extended the existing eastbound overtaking lane on Chifley Road by about 380 metres to make it safer for road users to overtake on the popular route.
“The existing overtaking lane was shorter than the current standard and has been extended to improve safety for road users.
“The project aims to make travel more efficient by easing traffic flow, with limited environmental impacts to the natural landscape.”
Roads and Maritime thanks motorists for their patience while this work was completed.
This is the first project to be completed as part of the Chifley Road package of work.
