Changed traffic conditions on Garfield Road West Marsden Park
1 April 2016
State Member for Riverstone, Kevin Conolly MP advises that a traffic switch on to a new section of Garfield Road West at Marsden Park is scheduled to take place from Tuesday 12 April as work continues on the $135 million Richmond Road upgrade.
“The NSW Government is pushing ahead with work to upgrade Richmond Road between Townson Road and Elara Boulevard to increase road capacity and improve safety in Sydney’s north-west,” Mr Conolly said.
Motorists will soon benefit from a traffic switch to a new alignment of Garfield Road West, to the north of its current connection to Richmond Road, which is scheduled to take place early Tuesday 12 April. In preparation for these traffic changes, night work will be carried out on Friday 8 April and Monday 11 April, from 8pm to 5am, weather permitting.
Access to this new section of road will be via temporary traffic lights at the intersection of Richmond Road and the new alignment of Garfield Road West. The old section of Garfield Road West will be redesigned as a service road.
Work on the new service road is expected to be completed by mid-May and will provide access to Marsden Park Public School, the Rural Fire Service and the service station.
Vehicle access to the school, service station and fire station will be maintained via temporary access roads off the realigned Garfield Road West while this work is under way. A temporary school drop-off zone will be in place on Garfield Road West and a temporary pedestrian path to the school will provide safe pedestrian access.
Motorists may experience minor delays while the work is under way.
Please keep to speed limits and follow the direction of traffic controllers and signs to ensure the safety of motorists, pedestrians, school children and workers.
“The NSW Government is delivering this project to improve capacity along this critical north-south corridor as part of a huge program of work to support growth and provide better road connections to and from the region. Once completed the upgrade of Richmond Road will provide significant benefits for new communities including Marsden Park and Riverstone in the North West Priority Growth Area where more than 200,000 people are expected live by 2045” said Mr Conolly.
Motorists and the wider community are being thanked in advance for their patience while this important work is carried being out.
