New and extended clearways for Silverwater Road and Stewart Street from Auburn to Ermington

New and extended clearways will be installed on Silverwater Road and Stewart Street to manage traffic flow and ease congestion from Parramatta Road at Auburn to Marsden Road at Ermington.

The 13 kilometres of clearways are part of the NSW Government’s $121 million Clearways program.

Silverwater Road and Stewart Street provide access to Sydney Olympic Park and form part of the A6 route for motorists travelling north or south through Sydney.

With up to 5000 vehicles using the road every hour during peak times, No Stopping and No Parking restrictions are already in place along most of the corridor.

Member for Parramatta, Geoff Lee said, “by supplementing these restrictions and installing clearways, the Transport Management Centre will be able to ensure all lanes are available during peak weekday and weekend travel times.”

Both the north and southbound clearways will operate from 6am to 7pm on weekdays and 9am to 6pm on weekends.

The weekend clearways are also expected to improve traffic congestion associated with major events. They can also be complemented by ‘special event’ clearways as necessary.

The new clearways will come into effect on Monday 17 October and drivers are reminded if a vehicle is parked in a clearway, it will be towed and a fine applies.

To report a parked vehicle in a clearway please call the Transport Management Centre on 131 700.
