10 May 2017
Michael Johnsen MP, Member for Upper Hunter today announced the completion of the second stage of major maintenance work on Muswellbrook’s Kayuga Bridge.
Mr Johnsen said the Nationals in Government provided $1.3 million this financial year to maintain the strength and capacity of the iron lattice bridge across the Hunter River.
“With the final stage of work completed, our community will benefit from a safer bridge long into the future,” Mr Johnsen said.
“The second and final stage of work involved replacing timber decking and support structures beneath Kayuga Bridge and was completed on 4 May.
“The first stage of work started in March last year and involved replacing the timber approach spans.”
Mr Johnsen said two bridge closures were required to allow the maintenance work to be completed.
“I would like to join Roads and Maritime Services in thanking our local community for their patience while this important work was carried out,” Mr Johnsen concluded.
