Changed traffic conditions on the New England Highway south of Aberdeen
9 October 2017
Michael Johnsen MP, Member for Upper Hunter advises local motorists that changed traffic conditions will be in place next week on the New England Highway south of Aberdeen for maintenance work.
Mr Johnsen said Roads and Maritime Services will carry out road rebuilding work along a 2.2 kilometre section of the highway.
“Work is scheduled to start on Monday 16 October and is expected to be completed in January, weather permitting. Work hours will be during the week between 7am and 6pm until Friday 27 October,” Mr Johnsen said.
“Night work will then start from Sunday 29 October with work to be carried out Sunday to Thursday between 6:30pm and 5:30am.
“I can further inform our local community that no work will be carried out during the Christmas and New Year holidays from Friday 22 December 2017 until Monday 8 January 2018.
For the safety of workers and motorists, there will be some temporary traffic changes to ensure the work zone is safe, including a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h during work hours.
“I would like to advise motorists to follow the direction of traffic control and signs and keep to the reduced speed limits, and I would like our local Aberdeen community to know that
Roads and Maritime thanks motorists and the community alike for their patience while this work is carried out,” Mr Johnsen concluded.
