Road resurfacing completed at Wallabadah
19 December 2017
Michael Johnsen MP, Member for Upper Hunter is delighted to announce that major maintenance work to provide a safer and smoother journey for motorists has been completed on the New England Highway at Wallabadah just in time for Christmas.
Mr. Johnsen said the Nationals in Government provided $1.5 million to resurface a section of the highway north of the Quirindi Creek Bridge as part of the $1.5 billion program to maintain and improve the 18,028 kilometre state road network.
“The New England Highway is one of the region’s busiest and most important roads, so it’s important it’s kept to the standard motorists deserve,” Mr. Johnsen said
“Work involved resurfacing a 1.5 kilometre section of the highway to provide a smoother road surface, improving safety and reducing the need for future maintenance.
“Work was carried out from early November and has been completed on time and on budget.
“This is great news for our local community as it means a safer road in this area at one of the busiest times of the year.
“Our community must be thanked for its patience while this important work was carried out,” Mr. Johnsen concluded.
