$1.9 million reasons to smile as Snowy Mountains Highway upgrade completed
8 May 2018
The shovels have been put away after six months of work to strengthen and widen a 1.6 kilometre section of the Snowy Mountains Highway at Adaminaby.
Member for Monaro John Barilaro said the NSW Government provided $1.9 million for the project which was completed on budget and in time for the ski season.
“The project will help improve safety for all road users and will also reduce ongoing maintenance costs,” Mr Barilaro said.
“It’s great to announce work has been completed on time and on budget, which is something the NSW Liberals and Nationals Government is committed to delivering.
“There are now 3.25 metre wide traffic lanes with one metre road shoulders which connect to the previously widened sections of the highway to the east and west of Adaminaby.
“Drainage work was also carried out and improvements made to the intersection of the Snowy Mountains Highway and Denison Street.”
Mr Barilaro said the project has also resulted in improved conditions for freight vehicles as well as cyclists, and the community should be thanked for its patience while work took place.
