Murray River ferry contracts awarded

14 September 2018

New contracts for the operations of the Wymah and Speewa ferry services on the Murray River have been awarded.

Member for Albury, Greg Aplin said the award of contracts for another three years shows the NSW Government’s ongoing commitment to ensuring rural communities have access to this important free transport service.

“Both contracts have been awarded to Ferrymen (Port Macquarie) Pty Ltd,” Mr Aplin said.

“As part of the new contracts we will be implementing short meal breaks for the drivers. A 20 minute break for morning tea and lunch time will occur and a 30 minute break for the evening meal.

“The new contracts and meal breaks come into effect on 10 October. Changes to the operating hours will be distributed to regular users of the service and signage will be updated.

“The NSW Government is also improving amenities for ferry drivers by installing new toilet facilities on site.”

Meal breaks for Wymah Ferry are:
