Submissions report now available for the new Barrington Bridge
19 September 2018
Michael Johnsen MP, Member for Upper Hunter today announced that a new bridge across the Barrington River on Thunderbolts Way is a step closer with the release of the Review of Environmental Factors (REF) submissions report.
Mr Johnsen said Roads and Maritime Services received 155 submissions from the community in response to the display of the report earlier this year.
“The REF identified potential environmental impacts of building the new bridge and was carried out in consultation with a range of key stakeholders, including technical specialists,” Mr Johnsen said.
“Local Stakeholders and our community were invited to comment on the REF during March and April this year, and the submission report summarises the issues raised.
“All feedback will be considered as the planning process is finalised, and Roads and Maritime thanks the community for their contributions.
“Roads and Maritime will continue to work with the community and stakeholders during the construction phase to understand concerns and minimise potential impacts.”
Work will start in the coming months to relocate property boundaries and electrical utilities in preparation for major work.
Major work on the New Barrington Bridge is expected to start in February 2019.
