Contract for next stage of Pacific Highway upgrade, The Entrance

19 November 2018

Stage 3B of the Pacific Highway upgrade is a step closer with a construction contract awarded for the section between Ourimbah Street and Parsons Road at Lisarow.

The construction contract has been awarded to Daracon Contractors, with work on the upgrade due to start in early 2019.

Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast Scot MacDonald MLC said the NSW Liberal National Government is investing $178 million to upgrade this section of the highway to improve journey times and safety by increasing road capacity from one to two lanes in both directions.

“It is the next step in the NSW Liberal National Government’s upgrade of this vital transport corridor following the recent completion of the Ourimbah to Lisarow section of the Pacific Highway,” Mr MacDonald said.

“Like the recently completed section, this upgrade will improve traffic flow and travel times for around 30,000 motorists who travel on this 1.6 kilometre section of highway each day.”

“This upgrade will include a new four-lane bridge over the rail line, replacing the existing narrow bridge near Railway Crescent, and will also feature new traffic lights at the Railway Crescent and Tuggerah Street intersection with the Pacific Highway.”

Liberal candidate for The Entrance Brian Perrem said he was pleased to see the next stage of the Pacific Highway upgrade progressing and that roads would be a key issue he would be campaigning on.

"Over the next few months I'll be outlining to the community my plan for road upgrades within the electorate to ease congestion for motorists and accommodate future growth," Mr Perrem said.

This upgrade will complete three of five stages of planned work for the Pacific Highway corridor on the Central Coast, with Stages 1, 2 and 3A already completed.

Stage 3B will build upon the $70 million Stage 3A project completed in October this year.

Stage 4 (Narara to Lisarow – Pacific Highway and Manns Road upgrade between Narara Creek Road and Parsons Road) and Stage 5 (Manns Road upgrade – Stockyard Place to Narara Creek Road) are in long-term planning and the NSW government has allocated a further $3 million in 2018/19 to continue this process.
