Help us build overtaking lanes on the Newell Highway
28 April 2020
Transport for NSW is calling for local suppliers in the Coonabarabran and Gilgandra areas to tender to be involved in building overtaking lanes on the Newell Highway at Redbank and Tap Hill.
Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Roads and Infrastructure Chris Gulaptis said the Newell Highway Program Alliance is scheduled to start work on two new northbound overtaking lanes at Tap Hill, about 44 kilometres north of Gilgandra in May, and a southbound overtaking lane at Redbank, about 33 kilometres south of Coonabarabran, in July.
“Transport for NSW is seeking local suppliers and labour to help the project team carry out this work,” Mr Gulaptis said.
“We encourage local businesses and community members to register their interest to tender for a variety of goods, services and materials to build these overtaking lanes.
“Since the start of the program, 164 local people have been employed, and 60 local contractors and suppliers contributed to the new overtaking lanes we’ve delivered along the length of the Newell,” Mr Gulaptis said.
Local suppliers are encouraged to email email@example.com with their company name, company ABN, full name, contact details (phone number, email address and residential address) and the types of goods, services and materials they would like to tender for.
Registrations close at 5pm Wednesday 6 May 2020.
The Newell Highway Program Alliance is delivering about 30 additional overtaking lanes in four years to improve safety, reduce travel times and improve freight efficiency on the Newell Highway.
Transport for NSW will keep the community informed as work on the overtaking lane at Redbank and Tap Hill progresses.
