Contract awarded for new Camp Street Bridge

16 July 2019

Construction of the new Camp Street Bridge over Lake Forbes will commence in September.

Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Paul Toole said the new $12.8 million project would replace the existing bridge and improve safety for road users.

"The project involves building a new, wider bridge across Lake Forbes with wider lanes and pedestrian and cycle paths, which will improve safety for motorists and pedestrians for years to come," Mr Toole said.

"The design includes landscaping suitable to the lakeside environment and the lamp posts from the existing bridge will be incorporated in the design to complement the town's heritage aesthetics.

"The existing Camp Street Bridge was built in 1927 and is narrow, in poor condition and nearing the end of its life."

The contract for the project has been awarded to Abergeldie Contractors Ptd Ltd. It is expected to be completed by August 2020, weather permitting.

Transport for NSW will continue to update the community on the progress of construction for the new bridge.
