Electronic message sign to be installed on Pittwater Road, Dee Why
16 May 2012
Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on Pittwater Road at Dee Why from this week.
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) will install a permanent electronic message sign across three southbound lanes 140 metres south of Delmar Parade, on the corner of Stoney Range Botanic Garden.
Preliminary work will be carried out from today and will include investigating underground cabling to determine the exact location for the sign, installing a footing and support structure for the message board and providing power and telecommunications cables to the sign.
Work will mainly be carried out at night, Sunday to Thursday from 7pm to 5am to minimise delays to motorists.
Some work will be done weekdays from 7am to 6pm and Saturdays from 8am to 1pm.
Some partial lane closures may be needed and reduced roadwork speed limits apply.
The signs will provide motorists with up to date information about traffic and road conditions, expected delays, location of incidents, available detours and events.
Work is expected to be completed in August, weather permitting.
Motorists are advised to drive with caution, obey all signs and the direction of traffic controllers.
