Speed limit change on the Olympic Highway at The Rock
25 September 2012
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) is advising motorists of a speed limit change on the Olympic Highway.
RMS carried out a review of the highway at The Rock as part of the Top 100 audit of speed zones.
The review assessed a number of factors including road environment, traffic characteristics and crash data.
As a result of the review the existing 80km/h on the Olympic Highway at The Rock has been reduced to 70km/h.
The changes will provide more consistency in speed limits and will improve safety for road users.
Motorists are reminded to drive carefully and pay extra attention to the new speed limits.
Electronic message signs to advise motorists of the change will remain in place for at least a week after the speed limit change.
Members of the community can sign up at the Safer Roads NSW website to receive updates about changes to permanent speed limits in their nominated area and have their say on speed limits.
