Speed limit change on the Olympic Highway at Gerogery

26 September 2012

Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) is advising motorists of a speed limit change on the Olympic Highway.

Member for Albury, Greg Aplin has been advised RMS carried out a review of the highway at Gerogery as part of the Top 100 audit of speed zones.

“The review assessed a number of factors including road environment, traffic characteristics and crash data,” Mr Aplin said.

“As a result of the review the existing 50km/h speed zone has been increased to 60km/h on the Olympic Highway at Gerogery.

“The changes will provide more consistency in speed limits and will improve safety for road users.

“Motorists are reminded to drive carefully and pay extra attention to the new speed limits," Mr Aplin said.

Electronic message signs to advise motorists of the change will remain in place for at least a week after the speed limit changes.

Members of the community can sign up at the Safer Roads NSW website to receive updates about changes to permanent speed limits in their nominated area and have their say on speed limits.
