New traffic lights for Pittwater Road and Anzac Avenue at Collaroy
21 November 2012
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) will turn on the new traffic lights today at the intersection of Pittwater Road and Anzac Avenue at Collaroy.
“This $500,000 project was funded by the NSW Government’s Black Spot Program to improve safety for motorists and allow pedestrians to cross on all four sides of the intersection,” an RMS spokesperson said.
“In the five years to June 2009, 17 crashes occurred at this intersection, including one where a pedestrian was injured.
“After RMS investigated ways to improve safety, the community had an opportunity to provide feedback on the proposal which has helped RMS to provide a customer focused road safety solution to meet the specific needs of the local businesses and residents.
“RMS would like to thank the local residents and motorists for their patience during the work.
“RMS plans to carry out traffic surveys to assess changes in the local area after the lights are switched on, and to relocate a street light pole near Griffith Park,” the spokesperson said.
