Safety to be improved on Kings Highway west of Batemans Bay
18 MAY 2017
Work will start next week to improve safety for motorists on the Kings Highway west of Batemans Bay.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said the NSW Government allocated $800,000 for work which aims to increase skid resistance to provide a safer road surface and reduce ongoing maintenance costs.
“This two kilometre section of the highway is located between two previous projects at East Nelligen and Rotary Drive,” the spokesperson said.
“Roads and Maritime Services will resurface the road and provide a skid resistant surface to improve safety for motorists, connecting the two previously upgraded sections of the road.”
Work is scheduled to be carried out between 7am and 6pm on weekdays from Monday 22 May to Friday 26 May, weather permitting.
“A temporary lane closure, with alternating traffic flow and a reduced speed limit will be in place during work hours to ensure the work zone is safe,” the spokesperson said.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
The community is thanked for its patience while work is carried out.
