Have a say on new and extended clearways on Eastern Valley Way between Roseville Chase and Northbridge

Members of the community are encouraged to provide feedback on a proposal to install new and extended clearways to improve traffic flow on one of the North Shore’s busiest road corridors.
A Roads and Maritime spokesperson said the proposed clearways on Eastern Valley Way and Clive Street between Babbage Road at Roseville Chase and Sailors Bay Road at Northbridge are proposed as part of the $121 million Clearways Program, which aims to reduce delays and congestion by maximising use of existing road space.
“Eastern Valley Way carries around 40,000 vehicles on weekdays and more than 32,000 vehicles on weekend and is frequently congested due to parked cars restricting traffic to one lane in each direction,” the spokesperson said.
“Introducing clearways on this important route to the Northern Beaches will ease congestion and improve journey reliability for motorists.
“The existing weekday clearways operate southbound from 6am to 10am and northbound from 3pm to 7pm between Babbage and Sailors Bay roads.
“The proposed new and extended clearways would operate in both directions between 6am and 7pm on weekdays and 9am to 6pm on weekends and public holidays.
“Introducing new weekend clearways will improve journey reliability for road users visiting family and friends as well improve the weekend sports run,” the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said clearways help manage congestion on many Sydney roads where the road is close to capacity and parking disrupts the flow of traffic.
“By introducing clearways, road capacity can be increased for motorists without widening roads,” the spokesperson said.
“Roads and Maritime Services will continue to keep the community updated on the proposal.”
Feedback is invited by Friday 21 July and will be considered when finalising the proposal.
