The trial closure of the northbound Cleveland Street off ramp on the Eastern Distributor and South Dowling Street will be extended until 1 February 2018.
The trial which commenced on Monday 10 July aims to improve travel time and journey reliability for motorists and proactively address the increasing number of safety incidents which were occurring as a result of the off ramp being open throughout the day.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said the trial closure of the northbound off ramp from the Eastern Distributor to Cleveland Street has so far shown positive improvements for motorists.
“The traffic data shows the trial has resulted in positive improvements in journey times and journey reliability for motorists,” the spokesperson said.
“During the trial, motorists using the Eastern Distributor have experienced improved travel times of up to three and a half minutes during work days and up to six minutes on weekends.
“Extending the trial until 1 February will enable further analysis of trip data and ensure the best outcome for motorists.
“Throughout the extended trial daily and weekly monitoring of the road network will continue.
“Signage will remain in place to inform motorists of the continued change in access to Cleveland Street.
