Speed limits reduced near Albury to improve safety
6 OCTOBER 2017
Speed limits have been reduced on two roads in the Albury Local Government Area to improve safety for all road users.
The existing 80 km/h speed limit on Kerr Road at Thurgoona has been reduced to 60 km/h for about 2700 metres from the Riverina Highway to Thurgoona Drive.
In addition, the existing 100 km/h speed limit on Gerogery Road has been reduced to 80 km/h for about 2500 metres from Wagga Road to around 400 metres north of Hub Road at Tabletop.
“Roads and Maritime Services carried out a review of the speed zones along these sections of road after feedback from the community and Albury City Council,” a Roads and Maritime spokesperson said.
“Work to build a roundabout at the intersection of Gerogery Road and Hub Road also changed conditions, further prompting a review.
“The reviews assessed a number of factors including crash history, road geometry, road usage, nearby development, traffic volumes and the number of access points.
“Reducing the speed limits will provide safer road environments for motorists and pedestrians.”
