Clearing the way for motorists on Punchbowl Road during peak times
31 October 2017
New and extended clearways will be introduced on Punchbowl Road to reduce congestion and improve journey times.
Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said the clearways on Punchbowl Road will be from King Georges Road at Punchbowl to Coronation Parade at Croydon Park.
“These new and extended clearways will ensure two continuous lanes are available to traffic when Punchbowl Road is near capacity.
“The clearways will take effect from Monday 18 December this year and are being delivered as part of the NSW Government’s $121 million Clearways Program.
“Clearways will operate from 6am to 7pm on weekdays and between 9am and 6pm on weekends and public holidays.”
Any vehicles parked in the clearways when they’re operational risk being fined or towed.
“New clearway signs and posts will be installed from Monday 4 to Sunday 17 December between 8pm and 5am to advise motorists of the changes,” the spokesperson said.
“The new and extended clearways along this 3.1 kilometre section of road bring to 290 kilometres of clearways the NSW Government has delivered since the program was introduced in 2013.”
The existing weekday clearways on the eastbound section of Punchbowl Road from Colin Street to Benaroon Road will continue to operate from 6am to 10am and between 3pm and 7pm.
The westbound parking lane from Yerrick Road to Colin Street will also be unchanged.
Community members can find out more information about the changes and speak with the project team on Thursday 16 November at Roselands Shopping Centre between 4pm and 8pm.
