Proposed parking changes and clearways at Collaroy

16 October 2018

Motorists and bus customers will be able to enjoy a smoother trip along Pittwater Road between Fielding Street at Collaroy and Lismore Avenue near Dee Why Lagoon if proposed new clearways are introduced.

“Pittwater Road is the main corridor connecting the Northern Beaches to the Sydney CBD, carrying more than 60,000 vehicles each day, with road users including bus customers, experiencing delays and congestion in both directions,” a Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said.

“The new clearways are proposed to operate in both directions, from 6am to 7pm on weekdays and from 9am to 6pm on weekends and public holidays.

The spokesperson said proposed clearways on this key corridor would help ease congestion, improve journey reliability, and improve safety for road users.

“A single parked car can significantly reduce road capacity and cause major delays on busy road corridors so it is important to ensure all lanes are available to improve journey reliability for motorists,” the spokesperson said.

“Roads and Maritime understands access for businesses through Collaroy may be impacted by the proposed new clearway hours and is working with Northern Beaches Council to deliver alternative parking close to businesses. These changes are in addition to council’s proposed changes to the Collaroy Beach carparks.

“As part of the project, there is a proposal to introduce new time restricted parking spaces on the local roads close to businesses at Collaroy to help maintain access for customers.

“The community is now invited to provide feedback on the clearways proposal and alternative business parking changes.”

The clearways project team and members from Northern Beaches Council will be available to discuss the proposed new clearways and alternative business parking arrangements at Collaroy Beach Playground rotunda on Thursday 25 October from 4pm to 7pm, Sunday 28 October from 10am to 1pm and Thursday 1 November from 4pm to 7pm.

Feedback can be sent to or on 1300 706 232 by Monday 12 November.

The community will be kept informed as the project progresses.
