Speed limit changes on the way through East Kurrajong and North Richmond

7 November 2018

Safety will be improved for motorists with changes to speed limits along East Kurrajong Road at East Kurrajong and Crooked Lane, Slopes Road and Maddens Road at North Richmond from mid November.

A spokesperson said Roads and Maritime Services carried out a speed zone review after requests from Hawkesbury City Council and the community to reduce speed limits on these roads.

“Roads and Maritime will be installing a 70 km/h speed limit along East Kurrajong Road between Comleroy Road and Putty Road as well as on Crooked Lane, Slopes Road and Madden Road to provide a more consistent journey for all motorists,” the spokesperson said.

“The speed limit will be reduced from 80 km/h to 70 km/h on East Kurrajong Road from Comleroy Road to 750 metres east of Roberts Creek Road and from 180 metres west of Carinya Close to Putty Road.

“The existing speed limit on Crooked Lane, Slopes Road and Maddens Road from Kurmond Road to Bells Line of Road will also be reduced to 70 km/h.”

The spokesperson said the existing 60 km/h speed limit on East Kurrajong Road from 750 metres east of Roberts Creek Road to 180 metres west of Carinya Close will be increased to 70 km/h.

“The speed limit changes are expected to provide a consistent speed limit and bring significant road safety benefits to the residents and all road users in this area,” the spokesperson said.

“The changes to the speed limits were assessed on a number of factors including crash history, road geometry, road environment and traffic volumes.

“Motorists are reminded the existing 40 km/h school zone on East Kurrajong Road will not be changed.”

The new speed limit signs are expected to be installed from Wednesday 14 November, weather permitting.
