Increasing safety with more consistent speed zones in Huntley
5 June 2020
The drive through Huntley, south of Orange, is now safer and more efficient with changes to speed limits from this week on Blunt Road and Phoenix Mine Road.
Transport for NSW Director Western, Alistair Lunn said a review of speed zones in the area recommended changes to existing speed limits to improve safety and provide consistent speed zones.
"A review of the current speed zones was carried out following complaints from motorists of inconsistent speed zones and confusion with signs," Mr Lunn said.
"Following the review, the 50 km/h speed zone on Blunt Road has been extended by 200 metres east and the 80 km/h speed limit on Phoenix Mile Road has been extended by one kilometre south, to where the roads meet.
"These changes provide a more consistent speed zone and avoid confusion for motorists travelling through Huntley."
The new speed limits are now in place and road users are asked to keep an eye out for the changes and follow the directions of signs.
