Leasing
Roads and Maritime Services administers more than 2,000 wetland leases covering foreshore structures in Sydney Harbour, Botany Bay, Newcastle Harbour and Port Kembla Harbour.
Sydney Harbour includes North Harbour, Middle Harbour, Parramatta River, Lane Cove River and Duck River. This body of wetland covers approximately 317 kilometres of harbour foreshore with an area of 5,255 hectares.
Leases cover structures ranging from private recreational facilities such as jetties and pontoons, to community facilities such as boat ramps and wharves, through to commercial and industrial business activities.

Commercial leases
Commercial leases are in general long-term leases for periods between 5 and 25 years covering businesses associated with marinas, restaurants, licenced/registered clubs, boat repair and various other commercial and industrial uses including port activities.
Community leases
Community leases cover facilities provided by local councils and amateur clubs (eg rowing and fishing clubs, scouts and guides) such as public boat ramps, swimming enclosures and wharves.
Domestic leases
Domestic leases relate to boating facilities that front residential waterfront properties, such as jetties, ramps, pontoons, tidal baths, slipways, steps, landing platforms and boatsheds.
