Navigation restriction - Pulbah Island, Lake Macquarie - Planned survey work

Pulbah Island, Lake Macquarie
7:00am to 6:00pm - 19 March 2020 to 19 July 2020

Transport for NSW advises that Centennial Coal will be conducting planned field testing and survey works in the area East and South East of Pulbah Island, on Lake Macquarie between 7:00am and 6:00pm (Monday to Friday) and from 7:00am to 1:00pm on Saturdays from Thursday 19 March to Sunday 19 July 2020.

Due to the potential to affect the safety of navigation, Transport for NSW has granted an Exclusion Zone to Centennial Coal Company Ltd. to conduct the works and an Exclusion Zone ('the Zone') will be established on the navigable waters of Lake Macquarie, East and South East of Pulbah Island. The Zone will be monitored by control vessels.

Additionally there will be a 50 metre exclusion zone around the barge "Sea Lift 1" which will be conducting the survey works, within which no person or vessel is to enter.

Transport for NSW advises that in relation to the Zone:

  1. Persons within the vicinity of the Zone must comply with any directions given by any Boating Safety Officer or Police Officer in relation to the Special Event or to marine safety. Failure to comply with any such direction is an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.15A - Maximum Penalty $3,300.00)
  2. No unauthorised vessels or persons are permitted to enter the Zone and to do so may be an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.12(5) - Maximum Penalty $1,100.00).

This navigation restriction remains in place for the duration of the works.
