RIVER BANK REHABILITATION WORKS

Vessel operators are advised that bank Stabilisation and revetment works will be conducted by North Coast Local Land Services along the eastern shoreline of Emigrant Creek, at the confluence of Maquires Creek and Emigrant Creek, adjacent to the Teven Road Bridge Ballina, during daylight hours only from Friday 8 May 2020 to Thursday 30 June 2020.
The works will take place on the eastern shoreline of Emigrant Creek only, extending approximately 800 metres downstream from the Teven Road Bridge. The works will be conducted using land based heavy earthmoving machinery. A sediment containment boom will extend along the eastern shoreline for the duration of the works.
Vessel operators are advised to exercise extreme caution when navigating in the vicinity of the works, to minimise wash, and to travel at a speed of 4 knots or less when within 100 metres of the work barges and vessels. Three yellow buoys displaying “Idle Speed Only” will be placed adjacent to the works, and remain in situ until June 2022.
Transport for NSW advises:
- Persons within the vicinity of the works must comply with any directions given by a Boating Safety Officer or Police Officer in relation to the works or to marine safety. Failure to comply with any such direction is an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.15A - Maximum Penalty $3,300.00).
- Vessels are required to maintain a safe distance and speed from the works and operators are reminded that the production of wash which impacts unreasonably on the works is an offence (Marine Safety Regulation 2016 – clause 11(2)) - Maximum Penalty $5,500.00)
