Navigation Restriction - Nambucca River Macksville - Maintenance to Old Macksville Bridge

(Marine Safety Act 1998 s.12)

Nambucca River, Macksville

7:00am to 6:00pm - Wednesday 8 July to Wednesday 5 August 2020

Vessel operators are advised that the Transport for NSW ("TfNSW") Bridge Works Northern Team will be undertaking cleaning and inspection of the Old Macksville Bridge, which spans the Nambucca River at Macksville between 7:00am and 6:00pm from Wednesday 8 July to Wednesday 5 August 2020.

At various times during the works the bridge spans will be closed to navigation and will be marked with appropriate day shapes or lighting and signage. It is intended that only one span will be closed at any one time. The barge will return to moor at night on the outermost span of the bridge closest to the works. A commercial barge and vessel will be in use transporting personnel and equipment from the adjacent boat ramp to the works area.

Vessel operators are advised to exercise extreme caution when navigating in the vicinity of the works, to minimise wash and to travel at a speed of 4 knots or less when within 100 metres of the works barge and vessels.

TfNSW advises:

  1. Persons within the vicinity of the works must comply with any directions given by any Boating Safety Officer or Police Officer in relation to the works or to marine safety. Failure to comply with any such direction is an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.15A - Maximum Penalty $3,300.00).
  2. Vessels are required to maintain a safe distance and speed from the works and operators are reminded that the production of wash which impacts unreasonably on the works is an offence (Marine Safety Regulation 2016, cl 11(2)) - Maximum Penalty $5,500.00)
